Ontario Climbing

Ice Wall - Thunder Bay

The map below shows a very high level overview of climbing in Ontario.

This page is meant as an additional supplement to the websites like the Crag and Mountain Project,  which list the crags, routes, grades, and beta across Ontario, and the Ontario Alliance of Climbers, who lists the crag status (i.e., whether climbing is allowed) of many areas across Ontario.

We intend to continuously update this page with: (1) links to personal stories of climbing at the crags; (2) links to the oral histories about the crags; (3) photos; and (4) any other interesting climbing information.

To do the above, we need your help. If you have a story, photo, tip, advice, or want to highlight another crag, please reach out to srosenthal@climbonsight.ca. And, together, we can accumulate and share the past and present of climbing in Ontario!

If any of the above climbing areas are of interest, feel free to book a guided trip on Climb Onsight. ONE AXE Pursuits, Muskoka Mountainworks, and Outdoor Skills and Thrills all provide expert and professional rock, ice, and mixed lessons in Ontario.
